I hope my pent-up excitement is rewarded this Friday! Maybe I’ll rewatch the back half of season one to get ready…🤔

“Flex X Cop” Sticks The Landing

✔︎ Flex X Cop

I’m so glad we’re getting a S2 and it looks like our boy Jin Isoo is BACK - with both hair and attitude! In this last week, for some reason, we took a hard detour from the enjoyable buddy/cop kdrama into a dark crime thriller. While the writing and acting were excellent the genre switch for the final two episodes had me reaching for my Quibble Juice™️. Overall though this was still one of the most fun kdramas I’ve watched in a long while. Can’t wait to hang with AHN BO HYUN, PARK JI HYUN, and the rest of this crew again in Season 2 🤞 (iykyk 😉)

I hate everyone in this drama. Though I am thoroughly enjoying evil CHA EUN WOO…while hating him. Honestly, I know I’m not supposed to, but I hate KIM NAM JOO’s Eun Soo Hyun the most. She lost a child and that is heartbreakingly tragic but my god woman that does not justify murdering that boy’s father! No matter how much of a piece of shit he was. Not sure I’m going to make it to the end but I keep showing up every week for my weekly ‘hate-watch’ so there’s that.

Not sure how I feel about this one after this week. I do know that these episodes are entirely too long for me. I don’t feel there is enough story for 90 mins an episode and it feels like a lot of filler. Our main couple, KIM JI WON & KIM SOO HYUN - while I may quibble about their storyline - there is no denying that they have amazing chemistry and I love watching them. Kim Ji Won was born to play Hong Hae In. She embodies this strong yet fragile ice princess with an uncanny naturalness I am obsessed with. Unfortunately, for the length of each episode, this long con the orphans (?) PARK SUNG HOON, LEE JOO BIN have implemented against the Queen Family, is very murky and could use some focus. And my soft heart for man/child KWAK DONG YEON hopes that he wins over his ‘fake’ wife in the end. I am enjoying the performances and the broad strokes of this story I just wish writer Park Ji Eun had a more ruthless editor. As I said in our LIVE this morning, strap in we still have 30 hours of this tale ahead of us - if we make it that far.

★ Nothing Uncovered

I watched both premiere episodes without much effort but also without much affection. Enjoying the male leads YEON WOO JIN as the cop ex-boyfriend and fav JANG SEUNG JO as the ‘loving’ author husband…or is he? Female lead KIM HA NEUL is alright as a hard-hitting reporter but the plot is not setting my world on fire. I’ll give it another week since my watchlist is light and see how it goes now that we have a case to solve!
