My watchlist is pretty sparse this week which is good because I’ll be adding at least 2 to my ongoing watchlist and need to find the time to binge the other 2 this weekend.

I’m pretty excited for all 4 Premieres.

WEEKLY LINEUP
What Are We Watching?

This week for me it’s all about the premieres. I want to watch them ALL.

• “A Shop For Killers” looks like it’s going to give me full Scorpio LEE DONG WOOK. My expectations are high…which is probably not the safest thing, as we all know.

• “LTNS” is rated NC-17 which hopefully means we’re getting a kdrama for adults! It looks like it’s dropping all on Friday 01.19 per MDL but this could change. But I hope they all drop Friday.

• “The Bequeathed” looks DARK and scary. And PARK SUNG HOON is in there somewhere so you know I’m at least hitting play.

• “Captivating The King” is another historical and I honestly love them. Mistaken identity. Revenge. Political intrigue. And I’m sure there’s a Left Minister plotting something sinister somewhere. Sign me up!

And we are saying goodbye to 4 (+2 premiere/finales) dramas this week.

Making Room For January’s Premieres

▶︎ Marry My Husband
I KNEW IT! NA IN WOO’s Yoo Ji Hyuk is more than just the friendly neighborhood CEO with a crush. This drama is quickly becoming a highlight of my week. It’s fun and sweet and super satisfying revenge-y and I am becoming really invested in Kang Ji Won’s (PARK MIN YOUNG) do-over.

★ Knight Flower
All the pieces are here for this to be a great watch but they’re not all fitting yet. Episode one was a lot of data: who, what, where and why. Not the most engaging hour of tv. Episode two was much more enjoyable LEE HA NEE & LEE JONG WON (who is completely new to me!) have great chemistry but I am already suffering from SLS with the fellow widowed character, Park Yoon Hak (LEE KI WOO). Keeping this one on the watchlist for now.

✔︎ A Good Day To Be A Dog 
Well it’s done. Such waste of so much potential. PARK GYU YOUNG & CHA EUN WOO had unbelievable chemistry and gave us some of the best kisses in KDramaland in 2023. Who knew Cha Eun Woo? Ultimately the Mountain God storyline completely derailed this drama and it never recovered. As Marisa said in the LIVE on Sunday - we now need them to reunite in a sexy fun Netflix movie to make the most of this couple!

▶︎ Welcome To Samdalri
The people have spoken…I’m back in! I got caught up and there were some really satisfying moments. SHIN HAE SUN and JI CHANG WOOK have fantastic angsty chemistry and watching them finally reunite officially was satisfying. The Ahjumma / Haenyeo ‘rumble’ was one of my favorite moments - KIM MI KYUNG continues to be one of my all-time favorites. She is such a powerhouse actor. As we head into the final 2 episodes I’m ready to see the ex-assistant finally get what’s coming to her, Sang Do to move the ‘F’ ON and I really want the oldest sister and her goofball husband work something out.

NEWS BITES
Signs of Change?

📣 BONG JOON HO and the newly formed Korean Association of Solidarity of Cultural Artists held a press conference calling for an investigation of police & media conduct in the case of LEE SUN KYUN. They also released a statement earlier in the week urging the media to help prevent a similar tragedy in the future. From what I’ve read this is a bold move in the South Korean celebrity ecosphere. I hope this leads to change.

📣 YIM SIWAN & LEE SUN BIN’s kdrama “Boyhood” is writing a Season 2. I didn’t watch this one but it seems it was quite popular! Did anyone watch this one? Should I revisit this one before Season 2 lands?

📣 SONG KANG HO’s first drama “Uncle Samsik” has confirmed it will air in the first half of 2024. Excited for this cast: BYUN YOHAN, LEE KYU HYUNG, JIN KI JOO & SEO HYUN WOO.
