If you’ve been in a bit of a kdrama slump like me, this week might be the answer to our watchlist’s prayers. We’ve got a dash of everything Crime, Thriller, Comedy, RomCom & SciFi. But one does stand out this week. The long-awaited return of JUNG HAE IN to the romcom genre! “Love Next Door” please be good! 🙏
Weirdly not a lot of casting or news bites lately - though I was addicted to watching all the coverage of LEE DONG WOOK at the Olympics 😻 and they are officially starting the s l o w rollout of “Squid Game: Season 2” over on Netflix.

Plus “Good Partner” is back in the line up after a 3 week hiatus for the Olympics.
Looking forward to seeing how they wrap up “Serendipty’s Embrace”. It started really strong for me that first week but the writing kinda meandered these last 2 weeks. The chemistry of the cast KIM SO HYUN, CHAE JEONG HYEOP, KIM DA SOM, HWANG SUNG BIN & LEE WON JUNG (plus only being 8 eps) is what kept this one on my watchlist. These talented actors are doing a lot of heaving lifting to make this script work. But I’m a sucker for a happy ending so hoping the last 2 eps are as satisfying as the first 2!
As far as the premiers go, I’m most excited for “Love Next Door”…obviously 😜 The return of JUNG HAE IN to the rom-com world, partnered with JUNG SO MIN, has so much freaking potential - I can’t wait! The teasers look pretty classic kdrama rom-com: childhood connection - reconnect as adults - overcome their troubled past - fall in love - rinse, repeat. But as we always say, it’s not the setup that grabs us it’s the execution. And with these 2 at the top of their game AND the call sheet - I’m feeling pretty good about diving into this one. ❤️🔥
Also super exctied to hit play on KIM SEON HO’s KDrama return “The Tyrant”. It looks like some serious SciFi goodness. All 4 eps are dropping on August 14th on Disney+ (and I believe Hulu?)
And hoping that “Black Out” gets a US Streamer soon!
