Big week with “Lovely Runner” coming to a close. What a surprising and delightful show it turned out to be! Let’s raise a mug to KIM HYE YOON, BYEON WOO SEOK and the entire team. They really created this show on pure love and determination and now have one of the most popular kdramas of 2024 if not EVER. It’s a great story in front and behind the camera 💟 

June is going to be a light month. Only 5 premieres. Good time to catch up on that ‘watch later’ binge list!

I can’t believe we’ve reached the final chapter of “Lovely Runner”! What a delightful surprise it turned out to be. I preferred the Adult part of the story and am happy that that’s where it seems we will bring the time loop to a close. I do not doubt that our fated couple will get their happy ending! Fingers crossed it’s as satisfying as the the previous 14 episodes have been 🤞 🤞

”Midnight Romance in Hagwon” Satisfying Slow Burn

I’m so happy that we’re back to…the present? future? The adult versions of our duo Im Sol [KIM HYE YOON] and Ryu Seon Jae [BYEON WOO SEOK] are my absolute favorite. The longing. The angst. The joy of reunion. Hits all my romantic buttons! Watching Ryu Seon Jae read ‘his story’ and have the memories start to filter in then confess to Im Sol how affected he was by her script…ahhhhh LOVED IT. Here’s to the entire crew getting the happiest of endings!!!

I love this one more and more every week. There isn’t really much of a story: Top Hagwon Teacher’s world gets disrupted when a former student returns as new teacher. There are challenges within her own academy but it’s not a political shit storm. There is the rivalry with The Grey Witch [SEO JUNG YEON] but it’s a seemingly normal competition. And through it all, Seo Hye Jin [JUNG RYEO WON] is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters in kdrama. She is smart, strong, opinionated, fun, well-liked, respected and has friends - essentially she is a REAL person. And this week’s episodes, watching her work through why she feels ‘different’ these days, combined with the conversations she has with Lee Jun Ho [WI HA JOON] then their romance finally launching…So much more satisfying than I expected. Such a slow burn. Plus I’m excited to get deeper into this story of adults being ADULTS.

Sigh….I think the fun of this show has faded for me with the romance launching. My SLS was just too strong and the lack of fiery chemistry between our main couple just made me mad 😆 You all know I’m a fickle kdrama fan! I do know that I now need KANG HANNA and JOO JONG HYUK to lead their own romcom! Come On KDrama Gods!! 🙏 

Every week I think I have figured out where this story is headed and every week I’m left not quite sure - but so happy about that! The Bok Family and the Spa Con Artist family are a mixed match made in heaven. I love the friendship developing between Bok Dong Hee [KIM SU HYUN / CLAUDIA KIM] and Grace [RYU ABEL] Their con to ‘fix’ the situation with the ex-finance? Ha! Need more of these 2 teaming up! Our little mind reader Bok Yi Na [PARK SO YI] is using her power more and more and coming out of her shell. And I love seeing the relationship with her dad start to thaw as well. Then there is our main couple Bok Gwi Ju [JANG KI YONG] and Do Da Hee [CHUN WOO HEE] it is refreshingly different. Like, sure, we know they’re going to fall in love and end up together but the path they are taking us on feels different. We have 6 episodes left, both families know all the other’s secrets and now we get to explore those relationships more deeply without rushing! And of course, figure out how to save Gwi Ju 😱
