Hope you are all had a great weekend - so far on Sunday as I write this, we have weathered Hurricane / Tropical Storm Hillary fairly well. Fingers crossed it stays that way into Monday. If you are also in its path I hope you & yours are safe and sound.

You may have noticed our newsletter arrived from a different platform this week. We have moved the newsletter to the platform beehiive to hopefully build our KDrama Coffee Break community as well as make the newsletter BETTER.

We will still be posting & communicating with all of our amazing supporters on Ko-Fi. Keep an eye out for a post to start planning a regular LIVE Coffee Break Meet Up on Streamyard with our Tier 2 & 3 supporters. I am also planning our next Watchparty for all Tiers. And of course, all Tiers have access to our Kdrama Calendar - (I’m trying to figure out a way to make a chat board for each week’s shows as well. Will keep you posted 🤩)

KDRAMA LINE UP

Dang. It’s a loaded week this week in KDramaland! How many are you watching?

My current watchlist includes:

3 KDramas I can’t talk about +

MY LOVELY LIAR: Still really enjoying this quirky fun Kdrama. We’re headed into our ½ way turn so I expect the angst to really start ramping up. But I’m hoping our Soccer loving duo can fight the good fight together and not head down some unnecessarily dramatic path ruining a perfectly good rom-com (looking at you Vampire Kdrama I can’t talk about 🤬)

NOT OTHERS: Wrapping this one up this week and I think I finally know why it didn’t hit for me - even with this cast. The entire plot was based around the Mom & Daughter relationship but after watching for the last 6 weeks, I just wanted more of Kim Jin Hee’s life outside of her mother. The police station and crew becoming HER TEAM, that is when I enjoyed the show the most (and now want a S2 hanging out there 😜) And sadly, as much as I love Jeon Hye Jin as an actress, I did not connect to the character of Kim Eun Mi. But unlike our Vampire Kdrama I can’t talk about…I will be tuning in to the final 2 eps so I guess I liked it enough?

CASTING

This week Soompi reported Cast confirmation for the webtoon based kdrama currently titled “Boyhood” 

IM SIWAN, LEE SUN BIN, KANG HYE WON & LEE SI WOO.

Set in the backdrop of Buyeo Agricultural High School in Chungcheong Province in the 1980s, “Boyhood” follows the story high school student Byung Tae, a loner whose only goal is to not get beat up but who becomes the most powerful kid overnight.  ~ Soompi

🤔 Y’all know I love IM SIWAN and am always excited when he announces a new drama…but a High School Student? For the entire drama? I have some concerns. Yes, he looks great for his age but for the love of god, the man is going to be 35 in November!? I’m not sure how much suspension of disbelief I’ve got in me. Let me know if I’m completely misguided here…

👨‍👨‍👦‍👦 I’m not familiar with the original “Chief Inspector” - it was an 880-episode series from 1971-89. But I AM very much looking forward to the prequel “Chief Inspector 1963”. They just announced the main cast which includes K3 favorites: LEE JE HOON & LEE DONG HWI and is currently scheduled for 2024.

🔁 PARK JU HYUN is confirmed to be replacing JUNG JI SO in the upcoming drama “Perfect Family” with KIM BYUNG CHUL and YOON SE AH. I’m a Jung Ji So fangirl after “The Cursed” so I’m a bit bummed but I don’t actively dislike Park Ju Hyun & I love the rest of the main cast so I’ll definitely hit play on ep 1.

💀 RUMOR: LEE JUN HYUK will make a cameo in “Plaza Wars” with SO JI SUB…and of course, dies. Does the man ever consider a script if his character’s life ISN’T in peril?!

❤️‍🔥 RUMOR: WI HA JOON & JUNG REYOWON in a romantic Melo - from the director of “One Spring Night” and “Pretty Noona” / “Something In The Rain”?! This is not even remotely confirmed but it came across my Twitter feed and I suddenly NEEDED this Noona romance immediately! (Remember when Wi Ha Joon wooed our girl BAE DOONA in “Matrimonial Chaos”? 🫠 ) Time to gather the KDrama Gods Prayer Circle!
