☕️ LEE JOON HYUK "DongJae, The Good or The Bastard" is Finally Here

☕️Time for another Kdrama Coffee Break!

So many finales last week - did yours stick the landing?

“Black Out” absolutely did! Chaos until the very end and everyone for the most part, got what they deserved. This was one of the best crime dramas I have seen in a very long while. BYUN YO HAN & GO JOON were such a dynamic duo - I most definitely hope to see them teamed up again. If you haven’t watched it yet you are so lucky! You get to binge it straight through and not wait week-to-week to see each revelation!!

“No Gain No Love” was ultimately satisfying for me. I wanted more of our main couple SHIN MIN AH & KIM YOUNG DAE but what they did give us was lovely. My biggest quibble is that the drama went the route of many kdrama ‘comedies’ and took a HARD left into MELO for a few episodes which I always find unnecessary. Especially here. The comedy was so strong & ridiculous throughout, that the melo - while well played by all involved - seemed out of place. (I mean my god, that was a long way to go for a d!ld@ joke, hilarious as it was!) But the main couple and the comedy put this one on my rewatch list for after Kim Young Dae heads off to the military - which is SOON - and I need a fix!

“Spice Up Our Love” was cute but not nearly as spicy as they teased us with. And let’s be honest - that is a waste of the very spicy chemistry between LEE SANG YI & HAN JI HYUN. 😈

My TOP TOP Pick for October “Dong Jae, The Good or The Bastard” finally premieres. This “Stranger/Secret Forest” spin-off focuses on the ultimate gray character: Prosecutor Seo Dong Jae LEE JOON HYUK. Not sure about the participation of the original writer/creator LEE SOO YEON, she‘s not listed as the writer but she was on stage with Lee Joon Hyuk discussing the project recently at BIFF so it does seem that she had a hand in crafting this story. Unfortunately, it currently does not have a legal streamer listed. So it’s looking like this will be another drama I’ll be watching off-grid via our favorite VPN Surfshark. I’m also sending my prayers to the Kdrama Gods that we get a BAE DOONA / CHO SEUNG WOO cameo!

I’m also very excited to hit play on the Girl Power that seems to be at the center of “A Virtuous Business”. This cast is loaded! Favorites KIM SUN YOUNG, KIM WON HAE, KIM SO YEON & YEON WOO JIN will all be finding their groove in this remake of the British drama “Brief Encounters”.

And I’m hoping the crime thriller “Doubt” with HAN SEOK KYU, CHAE WON BIN & HAN YE RI can fill the “Black Out” sized hole in my watchlist!
