I’m really enjoying my watchlist right now.

My top picks from last week are:

“What Comes After Love”

Ohhhhh boy this one has me in a ‘choke-hold’. Someone on Twitter called this “Persuasion” in a Kdrama and my god YES PLEASE give me to me right in my veins!

LEE SE YOUNG and SAKAGUCHI KENTARO are bringing all the love and angst. The Japanese settings are a lovely change of scenery. The music is gorgeous and very effective. It has more of a movie feel and we have already surpassed the kissing game we usually get in 98% of the kdramas we watch. Plus being only 6 eps total - and if the schedule stays as reported of 2 a week - it could be a very quick but satisfying love story. Could be, being the key word. I am preparing myself for tears, lots & lots of tears.

“Black Out”

If you like a good, juicy and completely bonkers crime drama I can not recommend “Black Out” enough. I do have to admit, after binging the first 8 episodes then having to wait to watch the remaining 6 week-to-week it took a little of the edge off the reveals. Add in the schedule change due to the Chuseok Holiday and the finale being punted by one week?! Super frustrating. But as a full-on binge? I can only imagine and am completely jealous 😜 

“No Gain, No Love”

The rollercoaster of emotions our main couple [SHIN MIN AH & KIM DAE YOUNG] went through, culminating with their confession scene, made any quibbles I might’ve had, disappear. I wish we had more time to enjoy them enjoying each other in the real world and not just as a ‘fake couple’.

I’m sad to see “No Gain, No Love” wrap up. It was a lot of fun and I would love to see more of our main couple [SHIN MIN AH & KIM YOUNG DAE] owning their lives, careers and love story. After watching ep 11 today, I really feel this was a drama that could have used the full 16-episode format. There is still so much story to tell, that does not include what looks to be a fun spin-off with our 2nd couple [LEE SANG YI & HAN JI HYUN] “Spice Up Our Love”. But overall a really truly satisfying kdrama RomCom.

“Black Out” is one of the BEST crime dramas I’ve ever watched. I wish I could have just binged the entire thing because waiting week to week did take a bit of the excitement edge off - but wow such a well-crafted and bonkers tale. BYUN YO HAN should be in contention come award season and he & GO JOON should be up for best couple as well, their teamwork and chemistry was 🔥
